Cars are more than a luxury these days. With daily commutes necessary for many working professionals, vehicles make going from one place to another quick and convenient.

However, owning a vehicle does not always come easy. When the parts start malfunctioning, that is when things get difficult and expensive. Car repair or replacement does not come cheap, so you need to be ready for the cost needed to keep your car running pristine at all times.

In many cases, your car would give you subtle clues when something is wrong. As soon as changes are observed in your truck, it is best to address the problem at once. Among the common problems of many vehicles is the noise. A car driving through roads like a truck is something that should concern you. The exhaust system, particularly the muffler, might be needing replacement.

It is critically important to fix any trouble in the exhaust system as soon as they are noticed. After all, the exhaust system is designed to deliver the burned gasses away from the car interior. When the exhaust leaks, the harmful burned gases may find its way into the cabin, thus, endangering your safety inside.

An important component of the exhaust system is the truck muffler. Aside from muffling out the sound of your car, the muffler prevents emissions from getting inside the cabin. A failed muffler would surely bring trouble in your car.

Why do mufflers fail? The muffler is generally exposed to road and weather elements such as rust, salt, and oxidation. The mixture of these elements eats the metal casing of the muffler. Likewise, the internal combustion eats away the muffler as well. When your truck is started, hot gas moves to the cold exhaust system, thus, causing condensation. When water and oxygen mixes in the system, oxidation or rust results. The muffler then rusts from the inside out.

In worst cases, your car can catch fire with malfunctioning muffler. If the exhaust gas leaks near the fuel, it can ignite and cause the fuel to burn. If the leak is in the engine, the wiring can catch fire and cause fire under the hood.

So, as soon as fumes or loud noise is noticed in your truck, have it checked immediately. Bring your car to your trusted mechanic to have the muffler checked and replaced if necessary. There is no point driving with a failed muffler and exhaust system in your car. If you do not want to suffer from costly repair expense or get into an accident, pay close attention to your mufflers and exhaust system.

There are many popular car exhaust problems that do not require you to visit a mechanic. It is important to identify these problems early in advance because if they go on for long they may lead to engine problems and this because the exhaust main purpose is the removal of harmful elements from the engine. If you fail to identify these problems early you may end releasing dangerous carcinogens in the air. Inspecting for car exhaust problems on a regular basis is very important and this includes the search for cracks or fissures that are affecting the exhaust system.

If you think that your pipes are corrodes you should poke them using a screwdriver to see if they give in they are supposed to be replaced. The muffler should also be replaced if it appears not to be solid or shinny. The tailpipe is the only place the smoke from the engine should come from. The exhaust fumes are mostly colorless as well as odorless and they pose a lethal threat and this is because they affect the perception and judgment of the driver and this is why the cracks should be checked on a regular basis. You should know there is something wrong with your exhaust system when you hear a hissing or popping sound from the engine.

These sounds normally indicate that pipes or the muffler are leaking. For the vehicles that have 4 cylinder engines they usually have harmonic resonance and this is due to exhaust problems which will produce a bussing noise. These problems can be rectified by turning the system which will dampen the noise. Most of these vehicles have user manuals where there is information on how to do this. If this noise persists you should then install a resonator or a second muffler. Exhaust restriction is another common car exhaust problem and this is as a result of using too much fuel or if the car is losing power.

The most common causes of exhaust restriction are damaged or crushed piped bafflers that have collapsed inside a resonator or a muffler or a catalytic converter which is plugged. To restore this problem is to go to the root of the problem and this includes unplugging of the catalytic converter only if it is a plugged catalytic converter problem. For you to know if you have an exhaust restriction problem you are supposed to go through the engine’s manifold vacuum only when the car is idle. The figure should always be over 18 inches. Another common problem is the exhaust backpressure.

The backpressure should be regularly measured and one way of doing this is using a pressure gauge to replace the check valve. This should always be below 1.5 psi and anything more than 3 psi will indicate restriction problems. This can also be rectified by removing the exhaust manifold’s oxygen sensor through replacing it with an adapter on where you will mount a pressure gauge. Some cases of ignition misfire or leaky exhaust valves cause plugged converter which is another exhaust system problem. This can be rectified by replacing the plugged converter. These are just some of the various ways of how to fix common car exhaust problems.

Considering the present economic scenario, it is evident that not many of us are buying new vehicles. In order to maintain the shine in our vehicles, we have to get them serviced and repaired frequently. Thus, auto repair is a process which is a requisite for the long life of your vehicle.

When people think of auto repair, they generally tend to think about thousands of dollars that they would have to spend on the repairs. However, in actuality, this kind of situation does not usually arise unless in case of a major accident. What most people don’t seem to realize is that most of the automobiles require frequent minor repairs regardless of how well you take care of them.

Even properly maintained vehicles degrade and their auto body parts (like shockers, mufflers etc) have to be repaired or replaced. These auto parts do not involve a major repair process and are easy to take care of.

Although these minor repairs cost some amount of money, they are worth the expenditure as they help restore the shine to your vehicle. For this reason, you can consider going to an auto body shop where automobiles are maintained and repaired by trained mechanics and auto body specialists. The following are some kinds of services offered by various auto body shops:

•Auto Body Part Alignment: This procedure involves maintaining consistency among all the body parts of the vehicle. The quote – ‘first impression is the last impression’ is affirmed by this procedure as the first thing about the vehicle that hits the eye is the appearance of the auto body. Nothing appeals more than perfectly fitted panels of the body, be it the doors or the fenders or any other auto body part. Thus, the most important service is ensuring proper alignment of the auto body.

•Color Matching and Painting: One of the most common task undertaken by an auto body shop is painting automobiles. These services are not only provided during accident repairs, but also when the owner wants to customize the vehicle with new color or other decorations. These auto body shops can match the desired color with the help of computerized paint mixing systems.

•Auto glass mending: An informal check is conducted on the glasses of the vehicle to ensure that there is no other damage except what is complained of. According to the extent of damage, liquid resin is used to clear and fix the damage. If there is a crack in the windshield, it will be repaired without any delay. However, replacing the windshield is preferred over windshield repair incase the damage is huge and cannot be fixed. Most auto body shops also provide the service where their servicemen come to your destination and make the necessary windshield repair.

•Brake Repair: It can also happen that the brake line of the vehicle is damaged or worn out. The security of the car is of vital importance which especially lies in the brake system of the vehicle. Brake repair becomes essential at the earliest stage of experiencing even a minor brake problem.

Car lovers purchase cars for a variety of reasons. But everybody is interested in the engine whatever the reason of purchase whether they have to travel to work, or it could be a status symbol or don’t have luxury of life in city with complicated network of trains and buses. Most of the people know that upgrading the car exhaust system is very important because the most durable and effective materials that make up these systems modify your cars exhaust system. The thing is vehicles are not only just useful and attractive but are also destructive and potentially lethal.

The car produces vapors which are devastating to the environment. Everybody knows that more are the cars and its exhaust on the road more will be the pollution and their consequences.

Car lovers believe that car exhaust systems are very important. But sometimes systems blocked the waste and dirt and proves to be a disaster and hazardous to the environment. It not only affects your cars body but also make you and your co-passengers sick. It is very important to take care of cars exhaust for excellent output, optimum engine performance and complete riding pleasure.

In contrast, most of the people believe that car exhaust system have an engine part which produces waste gases along with the pipes that protrude from rear. After that the group of pipes between the silencer and the engine will act as a bridge. The silencer is an important part of the car exhausts which the number of holes, to reduce exhaust gases pressure rushing out through the pipes. The purpose of silencer is to reduce noise levels. The reason for this is that the silencer contains reflectors that decrease the sound of the engine. At last the tailpipe from the back stretches out the fender of the car. These exhaust pipes guide fumes/vapors to their proper outlet behind the car and that’s why these pipes are known for this important function they perform.

Cars exhaust system performs lot of functions. They enhance the productivity and efficiency of the car. In this way your cars performance increases. By guiding the toxic exhaust fumes through their proper channels and helps to reduce the noise levels within the car. By modifying the exhaust of the car, the productivity and speed of the car increases. Your ride becomes smooth with the correct combination of resonators, pipes, headers and mufflers.

Generally there are different types of exhaust system line ups which include the following: a cylinder head and exhaust manifold. It affects the performance; a turbocharger that is dealing with the engine’s density of air which enters the engine thus it improves the power ratio that an engine provides; a catalytic converter that lowers the levels of air pollution which is produced by Cars. It lowers the toxicity of emissions released by the engine; a muffler which is also known as silencer in Europe. It deals with reducing the noise levels by reverberate the sounds inside a set of tubes and chambers with holes until sounds cancel down each other. It usually works like a fine tuned music instrument but with reverse purpose instead of creating sounds it reduces the sound.

The car exhaust systems have a long life generally. However it depends on how much you travel and how well you are maintaining your cars exhaust. If your car starts making too much of noise or when your car fails the MOT test then your exhaust system fail to work. All this happens because the exhaust system has holes which emit noxious vapors. By upgrading the cars exhaust the performance of car increases.

A car muffler is like a librarian who silences every noise. It is the last part of a car’s exhaust system which is responsible for deadening the noises the car engine creates during air and fuel mixture compression. Car mufflers have various ways to silence your car engine.

A car muffler has several but very important functions. You see, a muffler is a part of the exhaust system so it also helps your engine exhale. Imagine your car snoring while you are on the road. Embarrassing, isn’t it? Well, that is a good idea if you want everyone’s attention while you drive.

Absorption muffler is a type of muffler that uses a straight tube punched with very little holes. This tube is wrapped by a material that can deaden sounds. When fumes are released by the engine, the tube lets them travel uninterrupted then the material wrapping the tube absorbs the exhaust. This is why they are called absorption mufflers.

Another type of muffler uses inlet and outlet pipes which extend inside the main chamber. These pipes have thousands of tiny holes which makes exhaust gases bounce around inside the main chamber. If you want a muffler like this one, check those Audi used parts sold at car service centers.

A muffler using the Hemholtz Chamber is another type of muffler. They are also called resonating chambers. This muffler cannot work alone. Auto dismantelers recommend this type of muffler with other types for it to work well. Mufflers with Hemholtz Chambers deaden the exhaust emission sounds through a process called destructive interference. In this process, the chamber uses different kinds of vibrations to silence each other.

Mufflers are very important because they help you car engine breathe and avoid engine exhaust gases from entering inside your car. For them to work well, they need proper maintenance services. How can you tell that you have a problematic muffler? Simply listen to it. The louder your car snores; the worse your muffler’s condition is. If you need immediate replacement, check out those Audi used parts sold at some car service centers. You can find there cheap but quality used mufflers.

Well, this explains why my car is suddenly much louder. I love that the instructions for muffler replacement I found online had steps 1-4 as detailed instructions for getting the car jacked up. Step 5 was essentially clean and lubiricate the bolts to be removed. Step 6 was “remove muffler”, and step 7 reveres the process with the new muffler. Totally not bothering to go to a shop for this repair.

For excellent output, optimum engine performance and complete riding pleasure, it is important to take care of car exhausts.

Contrary to what most people believe, car exhausts are not just the pipes that protrude from the rear. The exhaust system consists of engine parts through which waste gases are produced. Then, there are the group of pipes that act as a bridge between the silencer and the engine. The silencer is an important part of car exhausts. It contains a number of holes which help to reduce the pressure of exhaust gases rushing out through the pipes. The silencer, true to its name, reduces noise levels because it contains reflectors that deflect the sound of the engine. Lastly, the tailpipe stretches out from the back fender of the car. These exhaust pipes perform an important function since they guide fumes to their proper outlet behind the car.

As you can see, a car’s exhaust system has a number of functions to perform. It increases the productivity and fuel efficiency of the car. Thereby it enhances the engine’s performance. The exhaust system also reduces noise levels within the car, and it guides toxic exhaust fumes through their proper channel. Tuning your exhaust can maximize productivity and speed. So, selecting the correct combination of resonators, pipes, headers and mufflers can make your journey smooth as silk.

How to choose car exhausts:

Are bigger pipes better? In a word, no. Big pipes defeat good speed. But, if the pipes are too small, flow will be constricted resulting in loss of power. However, between the two evils, having pipes that are a little small is better than pipes that are too large, particularly when the car is driven in cities.

If your car mufflers are inappropriate or improperly installed, you will lose almost all the advantages of a good exhaust system. In this regard, note that the size of your muffler does not impact performance much. Select mufflers based on their flow, not size.

Car exhausts generally have a long life period. However, the exact time and performance of your car exhaust depends on how much you travel and how well you maintain your exhaust. Short trips can lead to the corrosion of the exhaust.

You will know that your exhaust system has failed when your car starts making too much noise or when your car fails the MOT test. That is because when the exhaust system has holes, it will emit noxious fumes.
